A684 Sedbergh Road & Leyburn Road — Wensleydale's Main Route

The A684 is the single main road running the length of Wensleydale, connecting Sedbergh in the west through Hawes and on past Bainbridge, Askrigg and Aysgarth toward Leyburn and eventually the A1 at Bedale. It is a fast, mostly single-carriageway road through open moorland, and a flat tyre here — especially in poor weather or after dark — leaves you exposed on a roadside with very limited passing space. We cover the full A684 from Hawes westward to the Cumbria border and eastward to Leyburn. Leyburn DL8 5 & Lower Wensleydale

Leyburn is the market town at the eastern end of Wensleydale, about 14 miles from Hawes along the A684. It has a larger population and more through traffic, including HGVs heading for the A1. If you are coming off the A1 and have picked up a slow puncture on the A684 before reaching Hawes, pull over safely and call us.
